ヒトのゲノムDNAの解析
DNAプロファイリングは、法医学に画期的な進歩をもたらしました。DNAプロファイリングでは、犯罪現場や中央データベースである統合DNAインデックスシステム(CODIS)などから得られた遺伝子情報と容疑者のDNAを比較します。ヒトのゲノムDNAは、シークエンスの違いを利用した個人の特定や親子鑑定に使われます。
犯罪現場の生体エビデンスに含まれるDNAを解析することで、当事者の特定に役立つ貴重な情報が得られます。ここでは、「ショートタンデムリピート(STR)」と呼ばれるDNA多型で示される遺伝情報を解析します。STRの多型性は、短い塩基配列の繰り返し回数が一人ひとり違うことで生まれます。選択能力の高い検査ですが、試料の回収と不純物の混入に関する問題があります。生体物質が付着した様々なものが試料になります。
