ZEISS acquires trail cam specialist SECACAM

ZEISS has acquired the German trail camera specialist VenTrade GmbH with its SECACAM brand. With this acquisition, ZEISS is expanding its product portfolio in the hunting segment. "The crucial question for hunting is always: Where do I find the game and what is the right time for a successful hunt? Trail cameras provide the decisive insight into the hunting ground for precisely this purpose," explained Sebastian Doentgen, Head of Marketing, Category Management, Sales & Services at ZEISS Consumer Products. "With SECACAM, we have now gained a partner with years of experience in the trail camera market and valuable know-how in connectivity and digital services. Combined with our many years of expertise in imaging, camera technology, powerful optics, and software innovations, we are convinced that this acquisition will enable us to develop high-quality trail cameras with innovative features," Doentgen said. The digital and broadcast-capable trail cameras thus represent an ideal complement to the ZEISS hunting range of spotting scopes, binoculars, riflescopes, and thermal imaging devices. VenTrade will retain its headquarters in Cologne, Germany. "We are delighted about this promising merger," said Kalinka Mense, Managing Director of VenTrade GmbH. "Together with ZEISS, we can profitably pool our resources and continue our expansion in both the European and global markets." Financial terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed.
