"The best way of conserving resources is not needing them in the first place." That's ZEISS' philosophy for optimizing its use of resources. And it's how it has been able to optimize its eyeglass lens production processes by saving hundreds of tons of materials year upon year. What's more, by shifting some of its air freight to the rails ZEISS was able to reduce its carbon footprint by as much as 60% in this area alone.

TBD Media's video presents ZEISS as one of the 50 Sustainability & Climate Leaders who are committed to sustainability, climate protection and society at large.

The "50 Sustainability & Climate Leaders" campaign is a way for TBD Media to offer a platform for companies to provide sustainable and green solutions, and thus fight climate change. Bloomberg is an international business news service and initiator of the campaign for sustainability in business.

TBD Media and Bloomberg are using the campaign to highlight sustainable business practices at companies, including their production processes and supply chains. "Governments cannot combat climate change alone," says Patricia Espinosa, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), to introduce the campaign. "Look at how global organizations are embedding the principles of Sustainable Development into the heart of their business."
[Im Original: One fact is very clear. Government alone cannot address the challenges of climate change. Watch how global organizations are embedding the principles of Sustainable Development into the heart of their business.]
