Due to the significant amount of value created along the supply chain, the procurement process is critical to ZEISS’ long-term success. Local purchasing organizations around the globe source both production and non-production materials from local and international suppliers.
In view of the diverse nature of the business areas, the challenges for the different business units for the procurement of production material are very specific, which is why these are usually procured by the independent purchasing departments for each business unit.
Procurement Interaction Portal – PIP
Existing suppliers therefore use the PIP (Procurement Interaction Portal) as a higher-level supplier portal. Here, suppliers can record their services, maintain certificates and exchange documents. Then, suppliers can receive electronic calls for tender or manage and process their orders directly in the portal.
