"My role is to create the link between cutting-edge technology and those who use it to advance science." Sébastien is an Application Engineer for ZEISS microscopes in France.

For almost three years, Sébastien has been supporting researchers, engineers, and technicians in mastering advanced microscopy solutions. His job? Playing a key role in success of ZEISS microscopes right from the beginning. Working closely with the sales team, Sébastien guides clients through the technical demonstration phase and ensures the smooth implementation of products with training and project follow-up.

"We mainly work with microscopy platforms and research teams. It’s up to us to offer our customers the right tools to meet their scientific needs." Each demonstration is an immersion into the world of our customers: teams come with their own samples, and Sébastien adapts his settings, explanations, and even his teaching methods depending on the audience. "You need to know how to simplify things or go even more into detail depending on the person you’re speaking with. It’s a job that requires adaptability, and that’s what makes it fascinating."

Autonomy as a driving force

Remote work, flexible organization, trust. Sébastien particularly appreciates the freedom his position offers him. "We manage our own schedules, our assignments, our priorities. It’s precious. And it allows me to balance my professional and personal life." Attached to his native Lyon region and passionate about the mountains, he takes advantage of every free moment to climb, hike, or ski. As he spends a lot of time at customers' premises, Sébastien does a lot of travelling. Because the environment is important to him, he mainly uses the train. He also feels a strong connection to the ethical commitment of the Carl Zeiss Foundation, with reflects a genuine long-term vision. "It’s important for me to stay aligned between what I do, what I believe, and what the company stands for. At ZEISS, I’ve found this balance."
