ZEISS EQ Mobile

Development of an iOS app for ophthalmologists to manage surgical planning data

ZEISS EQ Mobile allows ophthalmologists to transfer surgical data from the ophthalmic data management software at their practice to a remote surgical device to perform cataract surgeries. A cloud solution is used to synchronize the data with the doctor's mobile devices so they can access them on their surgical system in the OR. In addition to the pure transfer function, the application offers further value-added services for doctors, which enable them to perform their scheduled surgeries. The solution was implemented on the basis of Amazon Web Services (AWS). It is certified to ISO 27001 and meets strict requirements in terms of security and compliance.

ZEISS Digital Innovation tasks

ZEISS Digital Innovation implemented the solution in line with Scrum principles, in close collaboration with the product owner at Carl Zeiss Meditec AG. Transparency, flexibility and professionalism were highly championed all times. As the product is used in a medical environment, great demands were made of the software quality and the development process. The development team at ZEISS Digital Innovation delivered new app versions on an ongoing basis, using a continuous delivery pipeline, and via the Apple TestFlight for testing, in order to ensure rapid feedback cycles. In addition to the implementation, ZEISS Digital Innovation is helping with app operation.
