Seeing the big picture

What motivates JiHye? “I’ve always wanted to do work that helps people.” This sense of taking responsibility and providing support has characterized her journey ever since she majored in early years education at college. Inspired by her older brother’s pride in his job at ZEISS, she joined the company four years ago and immediately started putting these interpersonal skills into practice.

Since her customers are the opticians who interact with end consumers, she thrives on her ability to see the big picture. In order to provide a complete solution from eye exams through to high-quality lenses, JiHye quickly identifies customer needs and communicates these effectively for optimum outcomes.

For JiHye, the biggest highlight of working at ZEISS is the commitment to flat hierarchies. This clear communication is likewise crucial in her highly visible customer-facing role: By thinking ahead and solving the root cause of any issues raised, she succeeds in boosting customer satisfaction.

Having started out handling bulk orders requested by the sales team, JiHye has now progressed to introducing new systems, improving existing workflows, and assisting other teams. She particularly likes shaping how customers interact with the company and adding value by improving their experience of individual processes.

JiHye knows the importance of travelling and broadening her mind, which reflects her naturally curious and proactive character – and means the open mindset at ZEISS is an ideal fit for her. When it comes to defining the company culture, JiHye emphasizes supportive colleagues, a free exchange of ideas, and the many options for sharpening her skills.

This recently inspired her to show extra initiative and attend the dedicated training course intended for customers so as to better understand the terminology and issues from their perspective. Always striving to go further, she is currently learning analytics to enhance her decision-making: “It’s all about getting to the root of the matter” facing customers and finding effective solutions, she concludes.
