How to connect

  • Check eligibility

ZEISS confirms whether your system, software version, country, technical configuration and service agreement support the relevant digital services.

  • Establish the connection

Pre-qualification: ZEISS service team works with your IT and biomedical teams to complete a site survey and discuss deployment options as well as prepare the network configuration. Timelines and effort depend on network architecture, cybersecurity requirements and approval processes.

Installation: The ZEISS service team deploys and configures the ZEISS Connectivity Module within your network.

  • Benefit from enabled services

Once the ZEISS Connectivity Module is configured, eligible digital and clinical apps and services included in the selected ZEISS OPTIME service plan become available for supported systems. Service availability depends on the applicable service agreement, system, country and configuration.

  • Stay connected and benefit throughout the lifecycle

Your team can continuously benefit from available digital services as well as digital and clinical apps for eligible systems. Maintaining the connection enables constant access to remote support, eligible updates, predictive services, proactive self-service guides, and future services as they become available.

Designed for controlled connectivity

Communication is encrypted and authenticated, while access adheres to defined roles and permissions. Remote access requires an authenticated request and confirmation by an authorized user.

Your organization assesses the connection within its own cybersecurity, network and risk-management processes. System-specific documentation defines applicable controls and data flows.

FAQs

  • The ZEISS Connectivity Module is deployed within the customer network linking supported ZEISS systems with ZEISS Health Data Platform or ZEISS FORUM, selected digital and clinical applications, and ZEISS Smart Services. It enables access to eligible digital services depending on system, configuration, country, and applicable service agreement.

  • Depending on eligibility and configuration, a connected system provides access to digital and clinical apps and can enable remote support, remote software and security updates, predictive services, uptime gurarantee, proactive maintenance, self-service guides, access to digital and clinical applications and other digital services defined in the applicable service agreement.

  • Many digital services provide value over time rather than at a single point in time. Maintaining the connection helps ensure continued access to remote support capabilities, software and security updates, proactive service recommendations, and eligible digital and clinical applications as they become available.

  • Connectivity can help support uptime by enabling remote support, software updates, proactive service capabilities and faster access to technical information. Many of these capabilities require an active connection to function. Where available, additional uptime-related commitments and services are defined in the applicable service agreement.

  • If your ZEISS system is not connected, or if connectivity is disabled, you may not be able to benefit from eligible digital services such as remote support, remote software updates, predictive services, proactive recommendations and selected digital and clinical applications. Maintaining an active connection helps ensure these services remain available when needed. Keeping systems up to date can also support cybersecurity management by helping reduce exposure to known vulnerabilities through eligible software and security updates. Without connectivity, some support, update and troubleshooting activities may require additional coordination and on-site visits. Requirements and service conditions are defined in the applicable service agreement and system-specific documentation.

  • No. Data exchange and access are limited to the functions required for the relevant service and are subject to defined authorization and security controls. For remote desktop sharing, an authenticated ZEISS technician sends a request that an authenticated user on the device must confirm.

  • Remote service access is intended for technical device information required for support, maintenance and troubleshooting. Clinical data workflows, where applicable, are handled by separate applications or modules with their own intended use and documentation. Access and data exchange are limited to the functions required for the relevant service.

  • Connectivity can support cybersecurity management processes by enabling the delivery of approved software releases and security updates, authenticated access controls, encrypted communication, and secure remote service capabilities. Cybersecurity remains a shared responsibility and depends on your organization's policies, processes, network configuration, and security measures. Find more information about cybersecurity here or within MyZEISS.

  • Ask your ZEISS representative to check system and country eligibility, then involve your IT and biomedical teams to review the applicable infrastructure, security and data-flow documentation.

  • As some smaller clinics do not have in-house IT experts, our ZEISS service team can provide relevant solutions for different facility types and requirements. Our ZEISS service experts will accompany you throughout the prequalification and installation and will continuously support you after the installation.

  • The overall timeline depends primarily on the technical preparation and approval process within your organization. The ZEISS service team guides your IT and biomedical teams through the required technical and network assessments and supports them throughout the process. Once all requirements are in place, installation can typically be completed during a short service appointment.
