With ZEISS VISUREF 1000, ZEISS introduces a versatile refraction device that combines wavefront autorefraction with multiple functionalities for comprehensive eye screening. The device broadens the range of services available to consumers, helping them to protect and enhance their vision and visual health.
Integrated technologies for comprehensive vision care
ZEISS VISUREF 1000 offers a variety of options for eye care professionals and their customers as it combines essential tools to monitor both the anterior and posterior segments of the eye to detect a wide range of ocular pathologies. It integrates wavefront refraction, keratometry, pupillometry, corneal topography, and tonometry into one comprehensive system and provides advanced functions that allow for expanded services such as dry eye checks and contact lens fittings. Additionally, ZEISS VISUREF 1000 integrates technologies like a non-contact tonometer and a non-mydriatic fundus camera.

ZEISS VISUREF 1000 offers advanced objective wavefront refraction and expands screening possibilities.
"Changing lifestyles and habits as well as an ageing population are factors leading to increased rates of eye conditions such as dry eye syndrome and cataracts, highlighting the need for advanced tools to perform eye check-ups. ZEISS VISUREF 1000 enables eye care professionals to obtain comprehensive information about their customers' eye health at the push of a button, allowing them to expand their offerings while providing their customers with detailed insights into their eye health and offering tailored eye care solutions that meet their unique needs", explains Jens Bernhard, Global Product Manager at ZEISS Vision Care.
A variety of features facilitate tailored solutions
ZEISS VISUREF 1000 is designed to enable efficient and high-quality eye examinations. Key features include:
Wavefront Technology: The device employs advanced wavefront technology to account for both low- and high-order aberrations, so eye care professionals can provide their customers with a higher level of customization in their lens prescriptions, such as lenses with ZEISS i.Scription technology. ZEISS i.Scription reduces glare effects and improves visual brilliance, especially in low light, which leads to greater visual comfort for wearers and opens up upselling opportunities for eye care professionals.
Automated Dry Eye Check: Symptoms such as burning eyes and eye fatigue are synonymous with the increasing use of screens. ZEISS VISUREF 1000 allows for automated, non-invasive measurement of tear film break-up time (NIBUT) and provides the option to measure and analyse both the tear film quality and stability. Additionally, a color image with grading scales is used to assess the meibomian gland area and to measure the tear meniscus height.
Integrated Fundus Camera and Non-Contact Tonometer: These technologies significantly expand screening capabilities. High-resolution images of the retina and measurements of intraocular pressure can be generated with just a few clicks. The device can be a starting point in the collaborative care journey of eye care professionals and enables essential eye health screening measurements and services.
Furthermore, ZEISS VISUREF 1000 combines multiple features to obtain a complete picture of the anterior and posterior segments of the eye so qualified eye care professionals can detect and analyze pathologies such as keratoconus, cataracts, and glaucoma. Operation and access to results are facilitated through a 10.1” touchscreen.

ZEISS VISUREF 1000 enables comprehensive eye examinations at the push of a button.
Streamlined process and holistic consultation
ZEISS VISUREF 1000 is seamlessly connected to the ZEISS ecosystem, allowing for centralized data management and communication between various ZEISS devices in the practice. This enhances efficiency and improves analytical capabilities.
Starting summer 2025, ZEISS VISUREF 1000 will be available in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and will gradually be offered in other markets worldwide.
