Building trust in vision care: How ZEISS supports eye care professionals as long-term partners

Interview with Charlotte Hamel
4 November 2026
The many assets of the current ZEISS Vuision Care brand campaign focus on universal experiences that can be understood around the globe and among all ages.

Charlotte Hamel, Head of Global Brand Management ZEISS Vision Care, explains how the latest ZEISS brand campaign strengthens trust in professional vision care and helps eye care professionals turn awareness into meaningful consumer conversations.

Good vision shapes how people learn, work, connect, and experience life. The latest ZEISS Vision Care brand campaign is designed to make vision care more relevant and accessible for consumers. ZEISS is already the leading lens brand amongst consumers globally1 and by creating a stronger emotional connection to the topic, the company aims to inspire action and raise awareness of the importance of visual health. For eye care professionals, this provides a valuable tool for daily customer consultations, helping them turn consumer interest in visual health into expert advice and tailored vision solutions – with ZEISS as a committed partner supporting their role as trusted experts.

Charlotte, why is trust so important in vision care?

Trust is the currency of our industry. Vision care is personal, more and more aspirational, but also technical and often complex for consumers to understand. They rely on qualified professionals to understand their individual needs and recommend the right solution. Our role as a brand is to reinforce that relationship. We want consumers to feel confident that professional eye care can make a meaningful difference in their lives, and we want eye care professionals to feel reassured that ZEISS is investing for the long term: in the relevance of the vision care category, in their role as trusted experts and in our brand.

A brand campaign can help consumers understand why good vision matters - and guide them to the experts.

Why did ZEISS choose to focus on a brand campaign rather than an additional product campaign?

It comes down to our mission and the opportunity to reach people beyond product conversations. First ZEISS is a foundation-owned company and at ZEISS Vision Care we have a strong purpose. We want to raise awareness about good vision and visual health, because it ultimately benefits many people, it really is for the betterment of humanity. And second, if we only speak about products, we stay within our industry or speak to people who are already engaged in the topic. The brand campaign allows us to start one step earlier: It helps people understand why vision matters in the first place, why visual health deserves attention and what good vision enables in everyday life. This is not a one-off activity, but the next step in a long-term endeavor that builds on “Nobody Sees Like You”.2

We deliberately focused on simple, human experiences that can be understood across cultures and generations. Vision is a lifelong journey, so the stories include people at different stages of life. The campaign is not limited to one type of consumer. These experiences are universal, even though local activation will naturally reflect each market.

Awareness may open the door, but expertise creates value.

The campaign mentions that good vision is not just about seeing clearly. What does that mean?

We want people to recognize themselves in these stories and understand that taking care of their vision can help them participate more fully in the moments that matter to them. Good vision is connected to emotion, self-expression, independence, learning, development and human connection. That is why the campaign focuses on relatable life moments rather than leading with technical explanations.

In general, among consumers health is increasingly understood as an enabler of a fulfilling life. Within this broader movement, interest in vision and visual health is growing. However, many people are still at the beginning of their journey. Some need encouragement to take the next step, while others need a reason to start. The campaign is designed to make that first step feel relevant and worthwhile.

What role do eye care professionals play in that journey?

They are key. The campaign can raise awareness and encourage people to seek more information and visit their trusted eye care professional, who then turns that interest into individual care. Through consultation, vision analysis and an understanding of the person’s lifestyle and needs, the professional can explain what good visual health means and recommend appropriate solutions. Awareness may open the door, but expertise creates value.

We want to give partners the power of the ZEISS brand while respecting the strength of their own business and customer relationships.

The campaign focusses on relatable life moments, as good vision is connected to emotion and human connection.

How can eye care professionals use the campaign in practice and how does the ZEISS brand strengthen an eye care professional’s positioning?

Eye care professionals can activate the campaign across their stores, websites and social media channels, depending on local availability. This allows them to connect a globally recognizable brand story with their own expertise and customer relationships. Their ZEISS representative can advise them on suitable assets and activation options.

Consumers continue to value professional advice, particularly for individual or prescription-based needs. Connecting a trusted local presence with the ZEISS brand makes this expertise more visible, reassures consumers and reinforces the eye care professional’s positioning as an expert. We want to give partners the power of the ZEISS brand while respecting the strength of their own business and customer relationships.

What makes this campaign distinctly ZEISS?

It combines scientific heritage with human relevance. ZEISS has a long history in optics, but heritage only matters if it helps shape a better future. As a foundation-owned company, we also carry a particular sense of responsibility. The campaign therefore cannot simply be about saying how good ZEISS is. It has to contribute to something larger: greater appreciation of vision, stronger awareness of visual health and more trust in the professionals who care for it.

Finally, what is your personal ambition for the ZEISS Vision Care brand?

When I joined ZEISS, I realized that this is a brand whose story does not need to be invented. The pioneering spirit, scientific foundation and sense of responsibility are already real. My ambition, together with the team, is to make that story known and meaningful for customers and consumers. I believe we are only at the beginning of showing how fascinating vision care is and how much value eye care professionals create every day.
