The annual get-together of all stakeholders involved in the program of the Software Campus took place at the Hub this year. The Carl ZEISS AG as well as the KIT form part of the program‘s partners which aims at preparing PhD students for their future careers in leadership positions.

The annual WTT-Forum was hosted at the Innovation Hub mid may. As part of the forum the Technology Transfer Award was granted to the Center for Applied Photonik (CAP) of the University of Konstanz, the Chair of Ultrafast Physics and Photonics as well as TOPTICA Photonics AG.

May 5-7 2023

We welcomed more than 60 participants for a weekend full of coding, programming, knowledge exchange and good food at the ZEISS Innovation Hub @KIT. Equipped with AI-empowered cameras, microscopes, 3D-printers, VR glasses and the expertise of our mentors, the hackers came up with outstanding results.

September 2021

In September 2021, Baden-Württemberg's prime minister Winfried Kretschmann visited the Zeiss Innovation Hub on the North Campus of the KIT for the first time as part of his “Karlsruhe Technology Tour”.

The presentation of Hyperlaunch, the hyperloop pod developed by the association mu-zero HYPERLOOP e.V., will go live from the Zeiss Innovation Hub @ KIT, where some of the team members designed the prototype.

We are proud to announce that one of the hub employee wins this year’s SICK science award for the Best Dissertation. Tobias Harter wrote his dissertation "Wireless Terahertz Communications: Optoelectronic Devices and Signal Processing" at the Institute of Photonics and Quantum Electronics (https://www.ipq.kit.edu) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.  

Under the supervision of Prof. Christian Koos he worked on novel optoelectronic devices and signal processing schemes for ultra-broadband wireless data transmission. Broadband communication systems are essential to handle the enormous increase in data originating from the digitalization of our society. At the ZEISS innovation hub Tobias now continues exploring new technologies and application fields in close collaboration with KIT researchers.

On October 1st,we are hosting one event of high-tech summit Baden-Württemberg, organized by BWCon. The high-tech summit 2020, will be held as a hybrid event, combining several locations in Baden-Württemberg. The ZEISS Innovation Hub @ KIT as one of the locations, will be hosting the presentation of the CyberOne Hightech Award for high-tech start-ups in Baden-Württemberg.

Meet other innovation enthusiasts, students, entrepreneurs and industry leaders and network in an informal atmosphere with pretzels and beer.

This time, Ralph Henn, PhD Student in the group of Prof. Terzidis, Institute of Entrepreneurship, Technology-Management and Innovation (EnTechnon), will give an overview on his research about Karlsruhe as an example of an entrepreneurial ecosystem. Ralph is interested and experienced in the entrepreneurship and start-up culture since his undergrad studies, gaining experience as a start-up consultant at the Pioniergarage.

Themed “Imagine – the future of microrobotics”, we organized our first Hub conference in 2020, six speakers from academia, startups and ZEISS were giving interesting insights and trends towards applications and technology trends in the field of Micro-Robotics.

Scantinel Photonics is a spin-off of the ZEISS Group. Their technology relies on coherent (FMCW) LiDAR to generate three-dimensional images of the environment, to generate a base for reliable autonomous navigation.
