ZEISS INSPECT X-Ray 2026 – New features

The new software update offers numerous new features and optimized functions for higher productivity. Unlocking possibilities and insights specifically related to volume data on top of the powerful ZEISS INSPECT foundation.

Adjust brightness and contrast automatically

Optimize visual inspections effortlessly. With a single click, automatically adjust brightness and contrast for a selected area in multiview images. This intuitive feature enhances visualization, especially for multi-material datasets, ensuring precise and efficient CT quality assessments.

Export section views as videos or image stacks

Easily share inspection results by exporting section views as videos or image stacks. Capture volume data, defects, geometries, or surfaces in a chosen section view and export in formats like MP4, PNG, or TIFF. This simplifies report sharing, allowing recipients to view results without specialized software or large datasets.

Separate multi-parts into stages

Automatically split volumes from batch scans into stages, all within one project, enabling seamless workflows for multipart inspections. This feature simplifies complex inspections by separating bulk scans of several parts and labeling them for streamlined analysis and reporting. Efficiently extract and organize individual components, coming, for example, from a mold with multiple cavities, without workarounds.

Flexibly configure your licenses

ZEISS INSPECT X-Ray now offers modular solutions tailored to your specific requirements. Choose from dedicated licenses for visual inspection, dimensional metrology, or nondestructive testing. This flexibility allows you to focus on the tools that matter most to your workflows, ensuring a cost-effective and customized approach to 3D x-ray inspections.

Support for all ZEISS METROTOM systems

ZEISS INSPECT X-Ray now supports data acquisition with all ZEISS METROTOM systems, including the new METROTOM 800 320kV, enabling seamless integration into your CT inspection processes. By using a single software solution from data acquisition over analysis all the way to reporting, you benefit from an end-to-end workflow that reduces complexity, and ensures consistent, high-quality results.

Benefit from the powerful framework of ZEISS INSPECT

  • Enhanced GD&T functionality

Simultaneous Requirement (SIM) enables grouped evaluations of multiple GD&T checks, available for position and surface profile tolerances. Support for ISO 5459:2024 as default for planar datum features ensures compliance with current standards – now selectable in the datum system dialogue.

  • Expanded CAD import options

ZEISS INSPECT X-Ray now supports the latest CAD formats, including 3DXML 2025, Catia 2025, NX 2412, and SolidWorks 2025 for example. Seamlessly import updated models from leading software, ensuring compatibility and streamlined workflows.

  • Export inspection data in Q-DAS format

Meet customer demands with certified Q-DAS export options for the Advanced Quality Data Exchange Format (AQDEF) version 6.0. Easily share inspection results in this widely used format, ensuring compatibility and flexibility across diverse quality management workflows.

  • Enhanced Python API

Improved scripting with service-based scripted elements which can compute faster and are better integrated into the software. Improving performance for custom inspection workflows with frequent script calls. Streamline automation and handle complex processes more efficiently with this update.

  • Cluster improvements

Simplify workflows with cleaner 3D views and improved previews. Benefit from new options to define cluster copy patterns. Better support of propagation of changes on cluster elements to existing cluster copies.

Previous highlights

ZEISS INSPECT X-Ray updates of previous releases
  • Multiview

Discover the ways to visualize and analyze complex geometries. Unroll cylindrical and conical sections into a flat view or follow a 3D path through your CT data. The improved visualization of volume slices with the brightness curve adds a new dimension to CT data visual inspection.

  • Multi-material parts

With the previous release we provide new methods for manual Region of Interest definition. The interactive creation of volume regions improves manual CT data segmentation workflows. With the Sub-parts concept parts of a multi-material or a multi-component data set share linked volume, alignments and ROIs which improves the user experience for multi-material projects and assemblies.

  • Smart volume-based defect detection

With the previous release we offer improved support for the most recognized standard for evaluating defects in light metal castings with CT – P203 adding the ability to use arbitrary-shaped ROIs for local evaluations and the Q-Factor.

  • GD&T enhancements

With the previous release the latest ISO and ASME GD&T standards are supported for the whole project. The enhancements include new integrated GD&T expert filters for geometry primitives and PMI improvements like TED, data management & datum parsing.

  • Performance

With the previous release we provide performance improvements for many often-used CT features, including for example volume filtering which is now up to 50 times faster or polygonization which is now up to 20 times faster.

  • Region of Interest

This year’s release offers new possibilities for the digital segmentation for volume processing. It is possible to inspect individual elements with specific tolerances or digitally segment assemblies into individual components. Get exact quality information for each element of interest, no matter how complex the part. No physical de-assembly or part destruction necessary.

  • Multiview

Get more efficient volume visualization with parallel visualization of multiple volume sections together with other elements. Move through parts in different perspectives or combine sectional views with 3D representations and tables.

  • Optimized volume-based defect detection

This release includes also the evaluation of pores or inclusions, even if data are not optimal, with the defect detection approach based on Machine Learning with ZADD Segmentation for challenging applications.

  • ZEISS PiWeb Apps for advanced reporting

Easier decision-making on the shop floor through central data storage. Capture, combine and analyze results from tactile, optical, manual or CT measurement. The open interface (API) offers the possibility for integration in your system environment for efficient tracking of production quality across all measuring machines.

  • GD&T enhancements

Automatic numering of tolerance inspections was provided. It is also possible to use GD&T filters. Profile and areal filter methods according to ISO 16610 guarantee compliance with up-to-date ISO norms. Achieve a new level of flexibility in terms of data types. The software works with mesh and point cloud data.
