Abstract

Microscopy for Battery Research – An Introduction

Batteries are devices composed of multiple materials with features spanning many orders of magnitude. With applications ranging from mobile devices to automobiles and grid-scale storage, battery performance is critical in many areas of our everyday lives. However, the performance of these devices is intricately linked to the details of their internal microstructure and how these structures evolve with extended use. In this webinar we discuss how advanced ZEISS microscopy techniques can provide insights into many aspects of battery research, from the manufacturing process to the intricate details of the components themselves. This webinar gives an overview of the breadth of applications for microscopy in battery research. Subsequent webinars will dive deeper into specific aspects of battery construction and the ageing process.
