Multi-stage gearbox precision
Key to power generation reliability
For power generation, the gearboxes are mandatory to provide the correct rotational speed for power generation. Therefore, a multi-stage gearbox can be used to reduce or increase the speed between the rotating incoming and outgoing shaft. Low speed, intermediate speed and high speed stages are connected and must interlock perfectly to operate reliably and avoid intensive maintenance or costly breakdowns.

The challenge
High accuracy in gears and all components in every dimension is essential for optimum performance. Solutions include gears with additional features and housing parts designed with bearing and torque support functions. Ensuring precise part fit and alignment in compact mounting spaces minimizes wear and energy loss while efficiently transferring torque. This focus improves overall system reliability and efficiency.

Our solution
The high-precision CMM systems are ideal for measuring gears, shafts and other components. From smaller parts with the ZEISS PRISMO and ZEISS CONTURA to large components with the ZEISS MMZ family.
Advanced optical 3D measurement systems such as ZEISS ATOS LRX, ATOS 5 or ZEISS T-SCAN hawk 2 can be used for housings and other large structural parts, after casting and in the production environment for full surface measurement.
ZEISS microscopy solutions provide high-resolution imaging and material analysis, enabling precise examination of heat treatment processes and post-fracture failure analysis.
