SUMMARY

Potential of in vivo pathology for neuropathological diagnosis during resection of CNS tumors

In this recorded webinar, neuropathologist Dr. Jürgen Schlegel shares his clinical experiences with fluorescein-guided confocal endomicroscopy. He shares results of the ex vivo evaluation project comparing diagnostic results using confocal endomicroscopy vs. conventional techniques (cryosection, squashed preparations and FFPE diagnosis) for typical neurosurgical diseases like gliomas, meningiomas, and metastases. The talk includes side by side comparisons of the histopathology that can be perceived in confocal images vs. H&E stains and / or conventional fluorescence microscopy images. In addition, he presents first preliminary results from the ongoing in vivo experiments at the technical University Munich sharing first application images of different clinical cases.
