ZEISS Dynamics of Life Lunch & Learn

12:30 PM - 1:30 PM PST | Hybrid event at UCSF Parnassus

ZEISS Dynamics of Life Lunch & Learn

Your local ZEISS team is pleased to invite you to the Dynamics of Life Lunch and Learn hosted by Dr. Songcang Chen. The hybrid event will be held in the RMB boardroom and virtually via Microsoft Teams. Join us as we review the broad range of live imaging applications and how ZEISS continues to push the envelope in the latest microscopy innovations to advance your research by providing gentle, fast, and super-resolution imaging across length scales.

In this Lunch & Learn, you will hear about our flagship live imaging systems and their strengths:

  • LSM with Airyscan 2 and Dynamics Profiler: Push fluorescence correlation spectroscopy to a new dimension of live imaging. Learn how Airyscan can enable the measurement of molecular dynamics: concentration, diffusion, and flowrate.
  • Lattice Lightsheet 7: Watch the subcellular dynamics over hours and even days with near-isotropic, high-speed volumetric imaging.
  • Lightsheet 7: Observe life in whole living organisms develop with fast and gentle lightsheet imaging.
  • Structured Illumination Microscopy Family: With new additions to our SIM offerings to balance sample size, imaging speed, and super-resolution capabilities, it's never been easier to visualize how biological structures provide insights into function.

Brian Schmidt Account Manager

Brian is an Account Manager supporting the Bay Area. Prior to joining Zeiss he was a Laboratory Manager for 12 years at the Universities of California – Davis, Wisconsin – Madison, and Minnesota – Twin Cities. During his time at UC Davis he studied vaccine development and immunology in emergent viral diseases using non-human primate and mouse models. In Wisconsin his focus was live cell time lapse imaging and electrophysiology focused on mouse metabolic disease models. He obtained his BS in Molecular Biology from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities where his research focused on craniofacial development in model systems.

Zaw Win, Ph.D. 3D Product Application Sales Specialist

Zaw is a 3D Product Application and Sales Specialist supporting the Bay Area. He has eight years research experience in cell biology, microfabrication, and mechanobiology. Prior to joining ZEISS, he was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at the MRC Laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology at University College London studying cancer cell division in engineered microenvironments. Prior to that, he obtained his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. His thesis work studied the function and mechanics of vascular smooth muscle. He obtained his BS in Chemical Engineering and Biochemistry from the University of Florida.
